“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:5-9
This is a video of TobyMac with DC Talk talking about this passage and singing “In The Light”- http://youtu.be/c6d0YMp_YOs
In this passage we are told we cant claim to have fellowship with God and walk in the darkness or we are a liar, but we also can’t ,because we are all sinful and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). So what are we supposed to do?? We are supposed to walk in the light so we can have fellowship with God and with one another, but also admit that we are sinners.
I decided to talk about this because this is what we talked about last night at my church, and I’ve also been hearing the word light and lessons about light for a few weeks everywhere I go.
God is the light of all. Light is taking the darkness away, which is what God did for us. Think about the moon and the sun without the sun, we cant see the moon because the sun is simply reflecting on the moon so we see it. God is doing the same, He is the sun (and the son of God-for a little clever word play) and we are the moon. We are supposed to reflect God in all we do so we can light up the world in this age of darkness.
So are you being a light? are you being the moon God created you to be? are you the moon in the day…bright for all to see or are you the moon in the day time…invisible?
you may be wondering why i underlined the word you the answer is simply because “if you really want the world to change…its starts with you!” Stephanie Smith (http://youtu.be/OFXK2ITY-Kk)
BE LIGHT SHOW GOD, AND LET GOD SHINE ON YOU SO YOU CAN REFLECT HIM
